Weston Traffic Committee approves $400,000 Ash Street sidewalk application

WESTON — January 13, 2021 — Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee votes to seek $400,000 for Ash Street sidewalk amid Gun Club Lane parking crisis. The committee unanimously approved submitting a Community Preservation Committee application for $400,000 in fiscal 2022 construction funds to complete roughly 3,000 linear feet of sidewalk between the reservoir and the Legacy Trail. Most of the meeting focused on Gun Club Lane, where Kristen Barbieri of Weston Forest and Trail Association said the fire chief had confirmed the department's largest truck cannot pass when cars park both sides. Weston Police Captain Steve Kelly said enforcement is "very tough" without permanent signage and warned that aggressive restrictions could "push the problem to the outlying streets," as occurred at Drabbington Way. DPW engineer Steve Fogg said Route 30 reconstruction is likely "10 years out," with MassDOT comments on the 25 percent design expected in early March.
