Traffic & Sidewalk · Meeting of September 23, 2026

Weston's Traffic and Sidewalk Committee pressed consultants for a clear count of trees to be removed for the Route 30 reconstruction. Member Lee Crockett said Howard Stein Hudson's figure of 360 trees over roughly 19,000 feet of path, "one tree every 54 feet," didn't match a separate Davey Resource Group survey that tagged 777 trees, and called limiting the public count to trees six inches or larger "misleading and disingenuous." DPW's Jason LaVoy said the tags were only location markers for surveyors, not removal indicators. Resident Barbara Fullerton said "people want to know which trees are going to disappear or be cut down." The committee is fielding 79 public comment letters on Route 30, 46 since its last meeting, with comments closing September 30 and a preliminary report due to the Select Board in December.

Separately, Highland Street resident John Gifford asked the committee to raise the town's flat $20 sidewalk-parking fine, unchanged in a decade.
