Weston committee to seek $400,000 in CPC funds for Ash Street sidewalk

WESTON — December 16, 2020 — Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee lines up roughly $400,000 Ash Street sidewalk request for CPC. Chair Jay Doyle told members at the Dec. 16 meeting that the Community Preservation Committee application is due in mid-January and that a Jan. 13 committee meeting will allow a formal vote to submit. DPW engineer Steve confirmed the $400,000 construction estimate, said design is being finalized in-house, and is coordinating with Eversource on pole relocations and with the MWRA on an 8M permit to use Commonwealth land. If Town Meeting approves in spring 2021, construction could begin July 1. The committee also reported the new Route 117 rectangular rapid flashing beacon at Church Street is operational, and that pavement markings at the Route 117/Merriam/Lincoln intersection will wait for spring while consultants resolve a stop-line conflict. Capt. Kelly said no crashes have been reported at the town center's new four-way stop.
