WESTON — June 26, 2025 — Weston sets October 15 Special Town Meeting to vote on MBTA Communities Act compliance plan. The joint Select Board and Planning Board MBTA 3A Working Group, meeting June 26, confirmed the date after the original November 17 slot was lost to a school calendar conflict; the meeting will be held on a Wednesday at Weston High School. Select Board Chair Lise Revers reported that the Select Board voted in executive session to appeal Superior Court Judge Gildea's dismissal of nine municipal lawsuits challenging the act as an unfunded mandate, primarily to preserve legal rights ahead of a July 14 compliance deadline. Boston Properties is seeking state approval to shift the half-mile compliance radius from Kendall Green station to a proposed new on-site station, with an EOHLC meeting expected within weeks; Revers said the outcome must be known by end of July to leave two months for bylaw drafting before September Planning Board hearings begin. The working group settled on four primary zoning sites — 133 Boston Post Road, 751 Boston Post Road, Merriam Village, and Wightman Tennis Center — carrying a combined target of roughly 400 to 450 units, and formally set aside the Weston Golf Club after Revers called rezoning "one of the oldest golf clubs in the country" for units that would never be built "not a good one" optically.
