Weston Open Space Committee Approves Public Survey in Unanimous Vote

WESTON — June 23, 2025 — Weston's open space planning committee unanimously approved its public survey Monday, clearing the way for a community-wide engagement effort tied to the town's new 10-year Open Space and Recreation Plan. The Committee on Open Space and Recreation Planning voted 5-0 at its June 23 Zoom meeting to adopt the survey as amended, following guidance from consultant Judy Barrett that it be directed at individuals rather than households and that it function as "an engagement tool" rather than a statistically significant study. Key amendments added an optional email-capture field to both online and paper versions, an introductory statement explaining the survey's role in a longer planning process, a new "neighborhood trails" category and Doublet Hill Forest among listed open spaces, and options for cultural events and live music among activity choices. The survey is expected to go live at westonosrp.com by the end of the week, with paper copies distributed at Town Hall, Weston Public Library, Brooks School Apartments, and the Weston Community Center through both the Recreation Department and the Council on Aging.
