Weston Select Board Unanimously Backs Seven Special Town Meeting Warrant Articles

WESTON — September 13, 2022 — Weston Select Board unanimously supports seven Special Town Meeting articles and ratifies a three-year DPW contract. The board voted 5-0 at its September 13 meeting to convey support for all warrant articles except Article 8, a school special-education reserve fund that sponsors planned to pass over at the meeting. The articles include Memorial Pool rehabilitation funding — backed unanimously by the Finance Committee, Recreation Commission, and Community Preservation Committee — as well as a utility easement for the Landsake property at 90 Wellesley Street and pickleball court design fees redirected as a CPA article after debate at the Annual Town Meeting. The board also ratified a Department of Public Works memorandum of agreement running July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2025, with a 2-2-2 cost-of-living adjustment, the addition of Juneteenth as a paid holiday, and the removal of a seniority-based daily job-bidding provision that management called "silly." Four DPW positions received targeted increases above the COLA after health insurance cost increases eroded their standing against comparable-community benchmarks.
