Weston ZBA Withdraws Apartment Bid, Sends French Road Driveway Case Back for Engineering
WESTON — September 14, 2022 — Weston ZBA withdraws accessory apartment bid and continues French Road driveway dispute to October 25. The Zoning Board of Appeals, chaired by Alan Rose and joined by Sujit Satoli and Steve LaRock, voted 3-0 Wednesday night to accept the withdrawal of a special permit application from Changhai Lee for an accessory apartment at 33 Lantern Lane after LaRock signaled he could not vote affirmatively for unpermitted work, leaving the applicant short of the required three votes. In the second matter, Weston French LLC sought an amendment to a special permit for a 14-foot driveway with a permeable-paver turnaround at 7 French Road in the Kendall Common neighborhood; neighbor Dr. Vincent Agnello presented evidence that 50 trees — including four conditioned for preservation in the 2018 permit — had been removed and offered a counter-proposal from landscape designer Sarah Kish using the original driveway entrance and a courtyard configuration. Rose told the applicant, "I'm not prepared to vote to approve this plan tonight," and directed him to return with fully engineered driveway options, revised septic reserve siting analysis, and a screened landscaping plan reviewed with Agnello prior to the October 25 hearing.
