Weston Select Board unanimously appoints deputy as new fire chief

WESTON — July 14, 2022 — Weston Select Board appoints Deputy Fire Chief Justin Woodside as the town's next fire chief. The board voted unanimously Thursday to elevate Woodside, subject to contract negotiations, after Fire Chief Soar announced his retirement at the end of July following 14 years leading the department. Soar told the board that going outside the department "would ruin what we spent the last 14 years building as far as morale." The board also closed the warrant for the September 13 special town meeting, which includes a School Committee proposal to create a special education reserve fund, three Community Preservation Committee articles, and a potential affordable housing land-swap article. The town renewed its $39,000 annual membership in the nine-community Regional Housing Services Office at $79.14 per hour, and Glenn Butcher was appointed to the Conservation Commission for a term expiring June 30, 2025.
