Weston Select Board signs $1.2M in MWRA loans, refers zoning bylaw to Planning Board

WESTON — February 11, 2020 — Weston Select Board signs $1.2M in zero-interest MWRA loans and lines up April zoning vote. The board on Feb. 11 ratified bond signing for wireless water meters, water mains, and lead-service-line replacement at zero percent over 10 years, then mapped a Feb. 25 referral and March 11 Planning Board hearing on an active-adult cluster bylaw aimed at an early-April Special Town Meeting. A citizen study group reported 481 survey responses showing 87 percent drive alone, with 187 interested in an MBTA shuttle and 231 in a direct Boston shuttle; the work was selected for the MassDOT Transportation Innovation Conference. The board also approved two Eversource grants of location on Lawrence and Montvale Roads, a Dec. 31 license for homeowner Eric Hersom to build a turnaround loop at 99 North Avenue, two MSBA Statements of Interest for school roof and HVAC work, and a cemetery-regulation exception for former residents Julia and David Harmon to scatter ashes at Linwood Cemetery — prompting the chair to call the recurring exceptions "unjust and totally inappropriate" as a default outcome and flag the rules for review.
