WESTON — March 2, 2021 — Weston Select Board sets May 8 election and May 15 outdoor town meeting, opens warrant through March 23. The board voted 3-0 to schedule the annual town election for Saturday, May 8, and Annual Town Meeting for Saturday, May 15, with backup dates of May 16 and May 22, after Town Manager Leon Gaumond confirmed the town had won injunctive relief allowing the compressed schedule. Member Christopher Houston pushed against a later option, citing Memorial Day attendance drop-off. The board also voted to support an Eversource reliability project replacing 72 utility poles and roughly 12,000 feet of primary wire on North Avenue starting March 15, and heard that Weston Media Center's cable franchise revenue from Comcast and Verizon is projected to fall to $145,000 and $107,000 respectively next year — prompting a $12,000 marketing line and a $25,000 fundraising target. In public comment, member Harvey Boshart called recent Finance Committee treatment of department heads "borderline rude" and pushed for a moratorium on direct testimony; the board opted instead to deliver a warning through the FinCom chair.
