Weston Select Board sends three Case Estates land articles to Town Meeting

WESTON — March 30, 2021 — Weston Select Board advances Case Estates land transfers and debt-exclusion ballot question amid ethics fallout. The board voted 3-0 on March 30 to approve purchase-and-sale agreements conveying two parcels behind 226 Ash St. to John and Sally Miller for $30,000 and transferring a 1,600-square-foot strip beneath the historic Louisa's wall at 101 Wellesley St. to James and Rebecca Mannix, with the town paying $10,000 as its share of completed repairs and the deed carrying a historic preservation restriction. Both transfers require May Town Meeting approval. The board also placed a debt-exclusion question on the May 8 ballot covering DPW drainage work, the high school F-wing roof and a fire engine pumper. Chair Laurie Bent declined four residents' requests for a dedicated public hearing on a State Ethics Commission finding against former member Douglas Gillespie, saying the matter had been "thoroughly explored." Member Harvey Boszhardt offered one-on-one meetings instead: "If that's a hundred people, I'll have a hundred cups of coffee."
