Weston Select Board approves decarbonization plan, appeals 3A dismissal

WESTON — June 27, 2025 — Weston Select Board appeals MBTA 3A dismissal and approves non-binding decarbonization plan at June 24 meeting. Town Manager Leon Gaumond, presenting in a Select Board Rewind recap, said the town intends to challenge the Commonwealth's decision to dismiss Weston's lawsuit against the MBTA Communities Act even as it continues pursuing compliance before the July 15 deadline. The board re-voted to hold a special town meeting on October 15 specifically to address 3A housing zoning, and set the 2026 annual town meeting for May 4, election for May 2, and caucus for March 9. Member Rebecca J. Mercuri was named the board's representative to the Affordable Housing Trust. The board also approved the non-binding decarbonization plan as a prerequisite for the state's climate leader designation, which Gaumond said would unlock additional grant funding for the town.
