Weston Select Board approves Case Estates land swap for water tank project
WESTON — August 27, 2024 — Weston Select Board clears path for water tank replacement through Case Estates land swap. At the Aug. 27 joint meeting with the Conservation Commission, members concurred by majority vote with the commission's unanimous decision to seek Parcel 9 at Case Estates as Article 97 replacement land for three new water tanks. Town Manager Leon Gaumond warned that if fall Town Meeting rejects the replacement articles, he may bring forward a repair article that "might buy us a couple of years" on the aging tanks, which he called a source of "a lot of sleepless nights" amid state DEP pressure. The board also backed a home-rule letter raising the special-officer age cap from 65 to 70, added a Council on Aging seat to the Recreation Master Plan Committee pending School Committee concurrence, and granted Gaumond a contractual increase after his annual review.
