Weston Conservation Commission issues delineation order, backs open space plan renewal

WESTON — August 27, 2024 — Weston Conservation Commission closes wetland hearing, reclassifies stream, and backs a $50,000 open space plan update. The commission voted 4-0 at its August 27 meeting to issue an Order of Resource Area Delineation for 175 Lexington Street, formally designating a previously ambiguous eastern stream as perennial — a change that activates 100-foot inner riparian and 200-foot outer riparian buffer protections on the parcel. The commission also voted unanimously to support a joint application with the Recreation Commission to the Community Preservation Committee for roughly $50,000 to update the town's open space and recreation plan, which expired in April 2024 after seven years; proposals are due to the CPC by September 10 for consideration at December's special town meeting. Conservation Agent Jordan noted the previous plan, last updated in 2017, had directly supported the commission's push to protect Parcel 9 during the recent water tank process. A certificate of compliance was also issued for a cross-jurisdictional pool project at 30 Falmouth Road, a Wellesley-addressed property whose rear portion falls in Weston under DEP file 337-1428.
