Weston Select Board adopts signage guidelines, fills three committees in marathon session

WESTON — July 13, 2021 — Weston Select Board reorganizes, adopts signage guidelines and advances four historic-preservation tracks. Harvey Bossart was elected chair and Chris Houston clerk; Lori Bent continues as MetroWest Regional Collaborative representative. In a joint vote with the Planning Board chaired by Alicia Primer, both bodies unanimously adopted town-wide signage design guidelines after a multi-year drafting process. The board appointed Kelly LaRocque to the Recreation Master Plan Steering Committee, Joan Heilbrunner to the Council on Aging, and Kent Lundberg and Lisa Revers to the Agricultural Commission. HPP Committee Chair Sarah Radigan urged the board not to slip past a September adoption window, warning that consultant Jen Goldson's contract is already extended and that a gap in plan coverage could cost the town safe-harbor credit. Houston outlined a multi-year guardrail plan that would bring the cost difference between galvanized and wooden guardrail — roughly nine times the lifecycle cost — to fall Town Meeting for voter approval.
