Weston's 3A Working Group Approves Charter, Targets Three Key Sites
WESTON — May 15, 2025 — Weston's joint MBTA 3A working group approved its governing charter and pressed forward on three priority rezoning sites at a May 15 meeting. The group — made up of all five Planning Board members and three Select Board members, with Town Manager Leon and Town Planner EMI as ex-officio staff — unanimously ratified a charter that had already cleared the Select Board's consent agenda. Planning Board member Al reported that Boston Properties appeared receptive to collaborative negotiations, potentially including joint discussions with the state's Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities, and said a site walk for the working group and abutters was being organized. Planning Board member Leslie scheduled a May 28 meeting with Miriam Village trustees to discuss overlaying 3A zoning on part of the 15-acre senior housing campus, which already holds 62 units, with abutter outreach to follow. A May 22 meeting with Mill Creek, the developer active at 751 Boston Post Road, was set for Town Hall. Select Board member Tom cautioned against urgency, saying he was "much more concerned with coming up with a plan that's going to last 50 years" than hitting the state's July 14 compliance deadline, which the town is actively litigating. The town receives just over $5 million in annual state aid out of $121 million in total revenues, and members said the financial consequences of noncompliance remain undefined.
