Weston Rail Trail Committee Approves $200 for Temporary Trail Signs

WESTON — July 16, 2018 — Weston Rail Trail Advisory Committee votes to post temporary signs as unofficial trail use grows. The committee unanimously approved up to $200 for laminated temporary signs covering DCR rules and dog waste disposal, acting after DCR project manager Paul Janicki confirmed official signage will not be installed until September. Members flagged a sharp conflict between DCR's three-dog leash rule and the town's five-dog professional walker limit, with one member noting that people are "going to use it anyway." State Representatives Alice Paish and Mike Barrett have included $50,000 for the Weston rail trail in a pending state budget amendment. Construction contractor H.D. Fencing remains behind schedule on post-and-rail installation, and the Conant Road underpass CONCOM presentation has been pushed to August 21 after plans revealed that part of the abutment falls on land owned by abutter Terry Eastman.
