Weston Historical Commission Imposes One-Year Delay on Historic Water Tower Demolition

WESTON — June 17, 2019 — Weston Historical Commission voted unanimously to impose a one-year demolition delay on a historic water tower on Lacksfield Road at its June 17 meeting. The octagonal structure, previously determined to be significant and described by members as likely unique in Weston, faces potential demolition if the owner concludes relocation on the estate is cost-prohibitive. The commission also heard from developer David Calhoun of 104 Boston Post Road, who sought signatures on a Mass Historic memorandum of agreement tied to a 40B affordable housing project; members declined to sign, saying they had not had time to review the document, and added it to the following day's agenda. A 1937 shingle colonial revival house at 15 Perry Lane was found significant and its proposed window, door, and skylight changes approved unanimously as not detrimental. A circa-1903 American Foursquare on North Avenue was also found unanimously significant and referred to a public hearing tentatively set for July 15 to consider a proposed garage addition and porch renovation.
