Weston Historical Commission Approves Silver Hill Addition, Advances Three Properties to Hearings

WESTON — November 18, 2025 — Weston Historical Commission approved an addition at 61 Silver Hill Road and sent three more properties to December public hearings. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern led the November 18 meeting, at which the commission voted unanimously to approve plans by architect Jeff Tucker for a garage addition and covered connector at the previously determined-significant Silver Hill property, subject to conditions on window spacing and divided-light grilles. The commission separately voted all three initial-determination properties — 23 Wellesley Street, a circa-1910 Harold S. Graves-designed Cotswold-style estate house; 37 Silver Hill Road, a 1905 Queen Anne within the Silver Hill National Register Historic District; and 59 Ash Street, a 1942 minimal-traditional Colonial Revival — significant and advanced each to a public hearing on December 16. Attorney Beth Nolan appeared for the owner of 59 Ash Street seeking total demolition, citing a compromised foundation and substandard conditions; the commission also voted to conduct a site visit before the hearing. The board authorized $2,500 for consultant Stacy Spies to complete seven MACRIS inventory forms and approved a $200 invoice for historic marker research.
