Weston Historical Commission Approves Modified Addition for 1847 Lamson House

WESTON — December 14, 2021 — Weston Historical Commission approved a modified rear addition for the 1847 John Lamson House on a 4-3 vote. The commission voted December 14 to accept the revised design for 279 Meadowbrook Road, which reduces the freeze board on the proposed addition from 18 inches to 12 inches and scales back the rear gable — changes members Alfred Aydelott and others said made the addition more subsidiary to the original Greek Revival structure. Owners John and Kelly had favored the larger original plan, and members Kathryn Scadden, Steve Wagner, and a member identified only as Maura voted no. Public hearings for 95 North Newton Street and 109 Highland Street — a circa-1756 farmhouse where member Henry S. Stone, Jr. argued original windows should be restored rather than replaced — were continued to January 11. The commission also voted to allow a dormer addition at 49 Silver Hill Road without a public hearing, found the circa-1786 Thomas Warren House garage at 49 North Avenue not significant and voted to advise the Zoning Board of Appeals on any replacement structure, and approved a 5-2 window-replacement request at 16 Gale Lane.
