Weston CPC Sets July Hearings on Pool, Pickleball, and Cemetery Applications

WESTON — June 27, 2022 — Weston's Community Preservation Committee moved closer to a September town meeting vote on a Memorial Pool renovation, a pickleball court design, and a cemetery assessment at its June 27 meeting. The committee, chaired by Glenn Butcher, heard that Planning Board permitting for the pool project is still pending after a procedural delay, with construction documents expected at 95 percent completion by July 1 and bids targeted for August 24 — meaning the CPC will vote on the project without final bid numbers in hand. Recreation Commission member Melissa presented a renewed $85,000 CPA design request for six pickleball courts at Birchard Park, citing a rough construction estimate of $900,000 and noting the Finance Committee had directed the project to CPC after it failed at May town meeting. Historical Commission member Steven Wagner requested up to $9,000 for a condition assessment of the South Burial Ground's roughly 80 deteriorating markers. The committee is weighing moving its public hearing from July 18 to July 19 and will hear two additional applications — Case Park and an Affordable Housing Trust preservation fund — at a July 11 working session.
