Traffic committee recommends Gun Club Lane parking signage to Select Board

WESTON — May 19, 2021 — Weston committee advances Gun Club Lane parking signs and revisits Route 117 markings. The Traffic and Sidewalk Committee voted unanimously May 19 to recommend that the Select Board approve a parking management and signage package for Gun Club Lane, with Weston Forest and Trail producing a QR-code "parking area full" sign and the town handling no-parking and fire-lane signs. Chair Jay Doyle said the committee will coordinate sign placement with the trail group and an abutting landowner. On Route 117 at Merriam Street, police speed data showed the westbound share of vehicles over the limit dropped from 0.8 percent to 0.3 percent after April striping, while eastbound held at 0.4 percent; Captain Kelly reported two crashes year-to-date. Resident Valerie Seek called the crossing "really quite scary," and the committee agreed to seek a third speed study in early June.
