Select Board refers Regis housing plan to planners
Select Board · Meeting of September 29, 2026
Weston Select Board refers an 85-unit Regis/HYM senior housing warrant article to the Planning Board after sharp affordable-housing questions. Select Board member Anupam Sachdev said a $300,000-per-unit affordable-housing buyout floated by developer HYM "was not a viable number in any form or manner for Weston," while a Planning Board member warned the project's third housing option meant the board was "being rushed" ahead of an October 20 warrant deadline. Separately, the board voted unanimously to incorporate a geothermal heating system into the town's new fire station, with engineers estimating a $1.2 million upfront cost largely offset by roughly $1.3 million in federal and utility rebates.
The board also approved a 5 percent water rate increase for fiscal year 2027 and appointed Beverly Dillaway, Branndon Chen, Julie Whitmore and Erin Abraham to the Cultural Council. HYM's purchase-and-sale agreement with Regis does not extend past the fall town meeting.
