Select Board approves $1.67 million in MWRA water loans, maps Silver Hill rewrite

WESTON — January 23, 2020 — Weston Select Board approves $1.67M in MWRA loans and lays out April timeline for Silver Hill zoning redo. The board unanimously approved two interest-free Massachusetts Water Resources Authority loans — $160,000 for lead service line removal and $1,507,997 for water main replacements on Lantern Lane and Old Coach Road plus a wireless meter reading system. Most of the meeting was given to a working session on reviving the Silver Hill zoning amendment that failed at December's town meeting. Planning Board liaison Al Aydelott said negotiations with the neighborhood and developer have produced "a framework which I think will work," still contemplating eight owner-occupied 55-and-over units with one affordable. Members targeted a March 11 public hearing and an early-April special town meeting, agreeing that any slip should default to the May 11 Annual Town Meeting to avoid $10,000 to $20,000 in special-meeting costs.
