Select Board accepts AG Open Meeting Law findings, rejects corruption claims

WESTON — February 25, 2020 — Weston Select Board accepts AG Open Meeting Law findings as residents press corruption claims. The board acknowledged late executive session minutes, an improper email deliberation, inaccurate minutes, and 11 sessions improperly closed under the real-estate exemption to discuss the town's 10 percent affordable housing safe harbor; the AG required Open Meeting Law training as the remedy. Member Harvey Boshart said Boston Properties' withdrawal from a planned 40B at 133 Boston Post Road was "100 percent a unilateral decision by them" unrelated to the Gillespie family's 751 Boston Post Road parcel. Abutter pushback was sustained — one resident called the conduct "corruption" — and member Laurie Bent told residents resignation would be "completely inappropriate." The board also denied a commercial dog walking license to Greg McKee of Arlington through Feb. 28, 2021, and voted to refer a draft active adult residential cluster zoning amendment to the Planning Board ahead of an April 6 Special Town Meeting.
