School Committee approves PROTECT Act compliance policy

WESTON — School Committee approves immigration enforcement policy, names building member. The Weston School Committee unanimously approved amendments to Policy ACH governing response to federal immigration enforcement under Massachusetts PROTECT Act. Member Kenneth Newberg, who sponsored the policy, emphasized it governs civil law enforcement interactions and does not affect the district's relationship with Weston Police.

The Committee also unanimously appointed Phil Memmott to the Permanent Building Committee for a term expiring June 30, 2029, and approved a consent agenda including an international field trip to Peru, parent chaperone volunteers for the Yale Invitational Debate Tournament, and grant acceptances. The Committee outlined the superintendent contract renewal process, with public comment opportunities scheduled for September 28 and October 5.
