Rail Trail Advisory Committee votes to sunset at end of fiscal year 2020

WESTON — October 7, 2019 — Weston's Rail Trail Advisory Committee voted to recommend its own dissolution, planning to sunset at the end of fiscal year 2020 after the trail's October 19 opening celebration. The committee unanimously approved a motion directing its chair to notify the Select Board of a plan to continue in skeleton form — with Gail Palmer assuming the chairmanship after January 1 — until the board formally dissolves the group and reassigns remaining duties including a DCR planting warranty, signage maintenance, and Eversource coordination. Roughly 127 invitations have been sent for the October 19 ribbon-cutting relay, which will run from the Wayland depot at approximately 10:30 a.m. to the Church Street station at 12:30 p.m., with a Bebop's ice cream truck, historical society displays, and depot open houses planned. Bench installations at three Concord Road locations remain the most consequential outstanding construction item, with Lynch contractors expected on-site Wednesday pending weather.
