Historical Commission orders public hearing on 770 Boston Post Road demolition

WESTON — March 31, 2020 — Weston Historical Commission orders new public hearing on demolition of 1892 Samuel Mead house. The commission voted 7-0 on March 31 to re-affirm significance of 770 Boston Post Road and continue the matter to an April 28 public hearing, rejecting owner's representative Stephen Lines's argument that a 2015 demolition delay had already run. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern and member Steve Wagner agreed to speak directly with Building Inspector John Field after staff disclosed Field intended to issue a demolition permit "regardless of what the decision is from this commission." Wagner told Lines the commission was "following process that we have to follow." The panel separately approved 7-0 Marvin Ultrex window replacements at 649 Boston Post Road and Renewal by Andersen Series One windows on Chiltern Road, and authorized $155 for a Burgoyne Elm site sign. A 1922 Glenn Road house was also voted significant ahead of an April 28 hearing on a proposed addition.
