Historical Commission clears four projects, refers North Avenue window plan to public hearing

WESTON — March 11, 2025 — Weston Historical Commission clears four projects and sends a 1786 home's window plan to a public hearing. Members voted unanimously to refer Amita Mishra's application to replace 29 windows and three entry doors at the Thomas Warren House at 49 North Avenue to an April 8 hearing after objecting to the lack of muntin grids; Commissioner Kathryn Scadden called the corner "the entry into Weston." The commission cleared St. Catherine's Church at 439 Boston Post Road to restore stained glass and install copper half-round gutters, approved a screened-porch enclosure at 54 Silver Hill Road, and authorized removal of a non-original wing chimney at the Joseph Chandler-designed Williamson House at 98 Laurel Lane. A full window replacement at 7 Golden Ball Road passed 4-1, with Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern dissenting and urging sash restoration. Members also discussed a Central Cemetery memorial grant of up to $100,000 and John Corcoran's offer to donate the 55 Church Street building to the town.
