WESTON — August 30, 2021 — Weston CPC unanimously funds feasibility study to save 1870 home at 669 Boston Post Road. The Community Preservation Committee voted 6-0 on Aug. 30 to release administrative funds for an appraisal, septic survey and conceptual planning on the contributing structure in the Boston Post Road National Register Historic District, which is under a demolition delay expiring in June 2022. The Affordable Housing Trust and Historical Commission, working with Alicia Primer and architects Al and Adrienne Adalat, envision retaining the house and leaning barn and adding one or two units in a village-scale configuration. Historical Commission co-chair Steven Wagner told the committee the owner is "very willing to work with the town" but a conventional preservation restriction will not pencil out. The chair said the CPC's administrative budget stands at $132,000 with less than $1,000 spent, calling the request "very doable." Members are targeting the spring 2022 Annual Town Meeting for an acquisition article. The committee also approved its annual plan, allocating 41 percent to historic resources, 27 percent to open space, 21 percent to community housing, 9 percent to recreation and 2 percent to administration, and announced the departure of longtime administrator Tracy.
