Weston Historical Commission Approves Exterior Changes at Three Historic Properties

WESTON — September 20, 2022 — Weston Historical Commission approves exterior changes at three historic properties and continues a fourth application. The commission voted unanimously at its September 20 remote meeting to approve window restoration and wood replacement plans at 25 Conant Road, a circa-1895 Italianate house, and at the Sparhawk Sears carriage house at 293 Boston Post Road, a national register landmark designed by architect Samuel Mead. For 169 Ridgeway Road, a 1944 English country stucco house in the Chiltern Hundreds historic area, the commission approved a full exterior package including a new natural slate roof, fiberglass gutters of matching profile, approximately 26 Marvin clad wood-interior replacement windows, and a second-story rear addition invisible from the street. Co-Chair Phyllis Halpern and member John Thompson pushed the owner of 52 Sunset Road, a 1934 Dutch gambrel found significant at the same meeting, to investigate restoring original old-growth wood windows before the commission considers approving full replacements, continuing that application to October 18.
