Weston ZBA Unanimously Upholds Denial of 70 Loring Road Driveway Relocation

WESTON — July 25, 2022 — Weston ZBA votes 3-0 to uphold Planning Board's denial of driveway relocation at 70 Loring Road. Chair Jane Carlson, member Sujit Satolli, and acting secretary Natalie Sawyer voted unanimously Monday on two separate motions — one affirming the Planning Board's refusal to amend a 2013 certificate of action and a second backing the Building Inspector's denial of a related building permit. The Otts, represented by attorney Johanna Schneider, sought to replace a blind Loring Road driveway with a new access on the private Meadowbrook Road, a project that would have removed 21 trees and planted 38 replacements. Town planner Imai Avelino told the board the Planning Board had found no compelling reason to overturn decisions made under two prior property owners, and board members said the proposal did not satisfy the bylaw's site-disturbance minimization criteria. The board also rejected a request for a continuance, with Sawyer saying additional safety evidence "would not be helpful" given that all three members were aligned on the site-disturbance question.
