Weston ZBA Grants Old Road Variance, Delays Winter Street Decision on Missing Documents

WESTON — December 14, 2022 — Weston ZBA grants variance for historic Old Road home, continues Winter Street hearing over missing permits. The Zoning Board of Appeals, chaired by Jane Carlson and joined by members Winifred Lee and Wendy Kaplan-Armor, voted 3-0 at its December 14 meeting to approve a variance allowing five additions to a circa-1910 house at 23 Old Road, designed by Weston architect Harold Graves and deemed historically significant by the town's Historic Commission; the board found unique hardship in the property's wetland constraints and praised architect John McCauley's work, saying "you guys have done such a really nice job." In the same meeting, the board continued a special permit hearing for a replacement home at 225 Winter Street — a 4,537-square-foot RGFA dwelling on a seven-and-a-half-acre lot — after petitioner Sean Cutting of Cutting Edge Homes failed to produce a written Board of Health septic approval or stormwater permit documentation, items the board called non-negotiable before it could act. The Winter Street hearing was continued to January 4, 2023, at 6:30 p.m.
