Weston ZBA Continues Two Hearings, Cites Incomplete Submissions

WESTON — January 18, 2023 — Weston ZBA continues two hearings and flags recurring problem with incomplete applications. The board, chaired by Acting Chair Winifred Lee and including members Stephen LaRock and Wendy Kaplan-Armor, voted unanimously to continue both matters to February 27, 2023. In the more contentious case, Scott and Miriam King of 470 Conant Road sought variance relief from street and side-lot setbacks to replace a 1978-era two-car garage with a new three-bay structure, arguing steep-driveway safety hazards justified the design; the board found the garage "too big" and directed the Kings to return with a reduced design and a sealed civil survey showing proposed grades. Andrew and Angela Rastami of 22 Derby Lane were continued on a special permit for a modest garage expansion after the board found labeling errors and a bulkhead-distance discrepancy in their surveyor's plan. Kaplan-Armor closed the meeting by calling for an administrative session to update the ZBA's application checklist, saying "almost every case I'm sitting on has a problem with it."
