Weston Unified Plan Committee sets October 21 community visioning meeting

WESTON — September 11, 2024 — Weston's Unified Plan Committee set its first community visioning meeting for October 21 at the Community Center and pushed a second session to January 9. Planning consultants Judy Reardon and Olivia of Barr Planning Group led the committee through a draft engagement plan, recommending in-person format for the October kickoff and a remote format for January to avoid snow-day risk. The committee tentatively agreed to staff outreach tables at Pumpkin Fest on October 19, a Weston Forests and Trails gathering on October 27, and the town transfer station on October 5. Reardon cautioned against letting MBTA Communities zoning concerns dominate early survey questions, arguing the Unified Plan "doesn't have to let that drive the bus." The second community meeting was bumped from early December after members agreed a date immediately following Town Meeting — set to begin December 3 — risked catching residents burned out or divided from a contentious vote.
