Unified Plan Committee · Meeting of September 14, 2026

Weston's Unified Plan Committee spent its September 14 meeting line-editing the housing chapter of its draft town plan without taking a vote. Robert Scott, Adrienne Giske, Rebecca Mercuri, Diana Chaplin and Melanie Larson debated repetitive housing-market and affordability sections, an undefined "entry-level" housing threshold, and whether to mention two contested 40B projects affecting the town's Subsidized Housing Inventory. A planning consultant said roughly 700 new units, a 20 percent increase, are expected in Weston over the next decade.

Giske urged colleagues to "vote no on Article 7," a town meeting warrant article she said would impose standardized statewide zoning, though another member cautioned against the committee taking a position. Larson said "Weston is not a universally appealing flavor." Members assigned Scott and the consultant to produce another revised draft and set their next meeting for September 28 at 4 p.m.
