Weston Unified Plan Committee pushes research deadline to late November

WESTON — June 2, 2025 — Weston's Unified Plan Committee agreed to extend its subcommittee research phase toward late November and voted to absorb the work of the recently dissolved Town Governance Study Committee into the unified plan's governance section. Chair Danielle Black presided over the June 2 session, where Town Manager Leon Gamon said he would seek clarity at a Tuesday Select Board meeting on whether liaison Lori Bent already holds authority to help fill two vacant at-large seats, with a June 6 application deadline and a target appointment date of June 30. Michael Herity, a former member of the now-disbanded governance panel, said the group had found no efficiency gains in towns that converted to five-member Select Boards and had been developing civic engagement recommendations and a proposed code of conduct. Separately, Jim Blanda flagged a draft 30-page town electrification plan produced by the Sustainability Committee, projected to 2050, which Black said the UPC should incorporate into the unified plan once finalized.
