Weston Unified Plan Committee forms subcommittee to consolidate nine vision drafts

WESTON — January 22, 2025 — Weston's Unified Plan Committee forms subcommittee to merge nine vision drafts into one. At a Jan. 22 working session facilitated by Barrett Planning Group consultant Judy, members agreed by consensus to spin off a subcommittee — capped under a quorum to satisfy open meeting law — after identifying public schools, climate resilience, open space, town services and fiscal sustainability as the dominant shared themes across the member-submitted drafts. Member Bob, nominated from the floor by Michael, called the vision "the most important thing we will do in this entire project." Member Michael objected to the catch-all phrase "quality of life," while Planning Board Chair Leslie Glenn, attending as a member of the public, urged the committee to identify which features of Weston to preserve, evolve or give up. Finance Committee member Leon told the group the plan should "provide options," not predetermine choices. The committee postponed its Jan. 29 meeting to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6.
