Weston Traffic Committee moves Route 30 public meeting to September 24

WESTON — August 21, 2024 — Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee sets September 24 corridor-wide Route 30 meeting, adjusting from September 25 after a scheduling conflict. Chair Jay Doyle announced the session, to be held in the Weston Police training room from 7 to 10 p.m., will be the first formal public outreach event since town meeting approved continued design funding for the Route 30 reconstruction project, with lead firm Howard Stein Hudson presenting to all corridor abutters. Dave Robbins, a board member of the 680 South Ave. residential complex, flagged that his building's annual meeting had already been set for the 25th, prompting the shift. The committee also endorsed a revised crosswalk alignment at Route 117 and Viles Street that avoids tree removal and adds a rectangular rapid flashing beacon, and reported that two finalist firms were interviewed for a town-wide pedestrian and bicycle master plan contract the morning of August 21, with a consultant expected on board by mid-to-late September.
