Weston Traffic Committee Defers All Votes, Directs Four Resident Complaints Forward

WESTON — April 22, 2025 — Weston Traffic and Sidewalk Committee fields four resident parking and safety complaints with no votes taken. At the April 22 meeting, Chair Jay Doyle and members Linda Nelson, Anne Weedy, and Dan Patnaud heard from Hillcrest Road residents Aileen and Jonathan Caldwell, whose neighbor's vehicles force dangerous maneuvers out of their driveway daily; police ex officio Captain Kelly told the committee that no current regulation is enforceable but that a committee-approved no-parking sign would change that. Young Road residents Karen Peters and a neighbor identified as Jen described a post-COVID surge of commercial dog walkers parking on their private road, and Captain Kelly said enforcement requires a written agreement between road owners and the town — the committee directed residents to contact Town Administrator Leon to initiate that process. Doyle flagged an undersized "do not block the box" marking at the Brook School Apartments driveway on School Street, calling it inadequate for PM-peak backups, and said a bolder pavement treatment would be placed on the May agenda for a vote. A blind curve at Cherry Brook Road and Pollywog Lane was referred for a DPW field visit, with options including a pedestrian crosswalk landing, vegetation trimming, and corner parking restrictions under review.
