Weston Select Board unanimously appoints Richard Sullivan as new DPW director

WESTON — April 8, 2025 — Weston Select Board appoints new DPW director and rejects all Case buildings bids at April 8 meeting. The board voted unanimously to name Richard Sullivan, the town's 22-year deputy DPW director, as the new director on a one-year appointment, after Town Manager Leon Goleman reported that no external candidate matched Sullivan's qualifications. The board also unanimously rejected all bidders for the historic Case buildings and authorized a working group led by Chair Tom Palmer and Member Lise N. Revers to reissue the request for proposals with added requirements for bidders to specify any requests for town funds or zoning variances upfront. The Sustainability Committee reported $858,000 in resident electricity savings since the May 2024 launch of Weston Power Choice and $730,000 in annual solar array revenue, and asked the board to approve a zero-emission-first vehicle policy by April 29 to meet a June 30 state Climate Leader application deadline worth up to $1 million in grants. The Town Government Study Committee presented a unanimous recommendation against expanding the Select Board from three to five members, a question that remains on the annual town meeting warrant.
