WESTON — Select Board approved geothermal heating for the planned fire station at Field 13. The system would consist of approximately 20 boreholes each about 500 feet deep. Federal and state rebates totaling approximately $1.4 million would offset the $1.2 million upfront cost, with estimated annual utility savings of $13,500.
Over the fire station's 50-year lifespan, the system could save the town over $1.5 million. The board also unanimously approved a 5 percent water rate increase to help maintain the town's water enterprise reserves.
