Weston Select Board unanimously appoints Dennis Linehan as police chief
WESTON — March 25, 2022 — Weston Select Board unanimously appoints Dennis Linehan as the town's next police chief. The three-member board — Chair Lise N. Revers, Clerk John F. McDonald, and Member Rebecca J. Mercuri — selected Linehan over finalist Mark Alucci after interviewing both candidates Wednesday, with all three members praising both finalists as highly qualified. Revers called it "a question of what is the best fit for Weston in this moment." The appointment is contingent on favorable physical and psychological evaluations, a background check, and a negotiated contract. The board also unanimously approved the FY2023 operating budget, set the annual town meeting warrant — adding a new article authorizing the board to act on the 55 Church Street depot property with up to roughly $40,000 in funding — and voted to send a debt exclusion ballot question to the town clerk covering capital projects including drainage improvements, a Highland Street intersection redesign, and equipment purchases for the school, fire, and IT departments.
