Weston Select Board sets October 15 Special Town Meeting for MBTA 3A vote

WESTON -- June 24, 2025, Weston Select Board unanimously sets October 15 Special Town Meeting to address MBTA 3A zoning compliance. The board, chaired by Lise N. Revers, also locked in May 4 for the Annual Town Meeting, May 2 for the Annual Town Election, and March 2 for the Town Caucus, with Clerk John F. McDonald stressing that the Planning Board's formal recommendation on a 3A compliance plan must be publicized "with enough daylight" before voters arrive at the auditorium. The board voted to adopt a town decarbonization plan and send a letter of support to the Commonwealth by a June 30 deadline, with Sustainability Coordinator Julie Gayden noting the designation as a state Climate Leader makes Weston eligible for competitive grants "upwards of a million dollars." On a water bill abatement for 75 Vocal Road, where nearly 49,000 cubic feet of water produced an $8,500 bill, the board authorized the town manager to recalculate the charge at the Tier 1 rate based on historical usage. A wide-ranging governance debate over proposed changes to the reappointment advertising policy and the future of the town's formal associate board member program was deferred, with McDonald volunteering to redraft policy language before the next meeting.
