Weston Select Board sends Riverside Road lab zoning to Planning Board

WESTON — January 26, 2021 — Weston unveils $88.2M FY22 budget, refers Riverside Road lab rezoning to Planning Board. Town Manager Leon Gaumond's proposed budget rises 2.98 percent overall, with schools at $44.1 million and a restored $2.22 million OPEB contribution, but cuts roadway maintenance to $1.8 million — short of the $2 million the board's plan called for. Member Chris Houston pressed for more, saying he was "troubled" the compromise was becoming a new baseline. The board voted 3-0 to refer Greatland Realty Partners' petition for a new Office and R&D B district at the former 226,000-square-foot Liberty Mutual campus on Riverside Road, where Greatland has escrowed $1 million with the Blake Estates neighborhood for Park Road improvements. Treasurer Zoe Pierce reported a successful $8.31 million bond sale to Fidelity Capital Markets at a 1.225 percent true interest cost, which she called "phenomenal." The board also approved a Land's Sake lease amendment removing a 2028 termination clause and appointed Christopher Wells to a Library Trustee vacancy from a pool of eight applicants.
