Weston Select Board Renews Town Manager Contract for Three More Years

WESTON — February 8, 2022 — Weston Select Board unanimously renewed Town Manager Leon Houston's contract for a second three-year term running through September 2024. The board, chaired by Lise N. Revers, also approved a positive composite performance review covering more than two years of Houston's tenure, which board member John F. McDonald called "very positive overall." In a separate action, the board abated $16,354.80 from a Lexington Street resident's winter water bill after a leaking town fire hydrant drove extraordinary usage, using a three-year average to set a fair bill of roughly $2,380. The board granted a cemetery variance allowing Jean Leone's cremains to be interred in the Leone family lot at Linwood Cemetery — a 50-year-old plot the family said was sold to them with an understanding of four urn placements — on the condition that no new ground plate be added. Library Director Jen Warner and Advisory Board Chair Cecily Kassem reported the Arts and Innovation Center is running an annual deficit of $115,000 to $125,000 against revenues, leaving an unmet need of roughly $80,000 to $90,000 covered by trust fund income and a temporarily redirected library salary line.
