Weston Select Board bans rodenticide, sets November 17 special town meeting

WESTON — May 29, 2025 — Weston Select Board bans rodenticides in town buildings and schedules a November 17 special town meeting. Town Manager Leon Gaumond summarized the May 28 board session in a Select Board Rewind video, noting the board voted unanimously to prohibit second-generation anticoagulant rodenticides from all municipal properties due to their lethal effects on raptors. The board set November 17 as the date for a special town meeting driven largely by a compliance deadline under the MBTA Communities Act, Chapter 40A Section 3A. Non-union employees will receive a 2.5 percent cost-of-living adjustment beginning July 1. Former Select Board member Lori Bent was nominated as liaison to the Unified Planning Committee, and three residents were appointed to the Open Space and Recreation Plan Committee. High-priority items on the board's fiscal year 2026 work list include the fire station project, water tank replacement, Case Estates building resale, and Josiah Smith Tavern reuse.
