WESTON — July 14, 2020 — Weston Select Board approves Silver Hill 40B compromise, advances September election, defers budget vote. The board unanimously approved a development agreement at 255 and 11 Hallett for eight market-rate units plus one affordable unit, ending an eight-month negotiation after a related bylaw amendment failed two-thirds at November town meeting. Members also voted 2-0, with member Harvey recused, to authorize Chair Chris Houston to pursue a court order confirming a September town election; the board is leaning toward a Thursday, Sept. 10 election and an outdoor town meeting Saturday, Sept. 12 under a tent. Town Manager Leon proposed cutting the OPEB contribution by roughly $2 million to hold the operating budget increase to 2.59 percent; Finance Committee member Lisa Ritano called the framing inadequate, saying "we're still in a crisis here." The board also reallocated $760,000 of town-center borrowing to fund town and school radio upgrades, and declined to appoint Cultural Council applicant Catherine after she called board members "corrupt" on Facebook.
