Weston Select Board Approves Eversource Power Line With DPW Conditions After Permit Dispute

WESTON — April 29, 2022 — Weston Select Board approves Eversource underground power line permit after contractors began work without authorization. The board voted 3-0 at its April 29 meeting to grant the location for work order 623880 on Trailside Road, subject to conditions imposed by DPW Director Tom Cullen, including photographic and video documentation of the already-installed conduit. Cullen noted Eversource contractors had on at least three occasions performed work in Weston without permits, and said he had issued a cease-and-desist order when he discovered crews digging without a grant of location. The homeowner, who said he had been without permanent underground power since June 2021 and had been running a home medical practice on a generator throughout the pandemic, urged approval. The board also unanimously appointed Daniel Coley to the Permanent Building Committee, approved three Council on Aging members, appointed two Cultural Council members, approved a $30,000 consent agenda item for the old rail trail station, and voted to create a Water Storage Planning Committee with up to seven members drawn from town boards and the public.
