Weston School Committee approves new K-5 curriculum supervisor position

WESTON — April 29, 2024 — Weston School Committee adds elementary curriculum supervisor and rates superintendent proficient in first evaluation. The committee voted 5-0 to create a 12-month elementary supervisor of curriculum, instruction and assessment, funded inside the existing FY25 budget through elementary contingency dollars, with the new hire expected to lead K-5 English language arts curriculum selection alongside Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning Dr. Cotter. Members also expanded the Assistant Director of Student Services role by 0.2 FTE. On her nine-month evaluation, Superintendent Dr. Lisa Zaleski earned an overall "proficient" rating and "exemplary" on community engagement, with Chair Ken Newberg urging her to narrow her focus: "The institution moves slower than you." A revised tennis court warrant article will go to town meeting at $1.6 million after bids came in below the original $2.025 million estimate.
